Special guest: Michelle Styles
I met Michelle Styles online in 2003 when both of us were writing novels but neither of us were published. Since then we co-wrote a novel - The Lady Soldier - which was published last year and have each been published with our own books. I'm really pleased to be able to welcome Michelle to the book launch party for Perfidy and Perfection.
Michelle Styles was born and raised near San Francisco, California, USA, and has lived in Britain since 1988 when she married .
Michelle is author of The Gladiator’s Honour published by Mills and Boon in hardback (March 2006), paperback (May 2006) and Audio CD (May 2006). North American publication date is September 2006.

It is reallly kind of Kate to welcome me to this party.
I can remember the first thing I critqued for Kate. It was an early version of A Fateful Deception. I then had the pleasure of watching Kate revise the book.
Then she came up with the idea that became The Lady Soldier and convinced me that we should write it together.
Then she went to a RNA workshop and heard in the ladies' loo that the MWSC might be buying stories.She first tried to convince me that I should send one of mine off, but then she sent A Fateful Deception off and sold it!
Around this time, she started work on P&P, I was really pleased to see how far her writing had grown.
There was something about it. And I thought it deserved to published so I was very pleased when Hale decided to pick it up.
It is such a treat when a book you have played a small part in makes it to publication.
Oh I should say that Kate had a very important role in Gladiator's Honour.
When I first started writing Roman romance, I showed the beginnings to Kate and she said that there was something in it. She encouraged me to keep on writing. Even when agents and others said -- oh but M&B will NEVER publish such a thing and if they did, it wouldn't be from an unpublished author.
Anyway, Kate kept writing to me -- this is very good. And other encouraging things. Then, I submitted and had to wait nearly a year to hear, but she was good at keeping up the spirits.
And another thing:
In the time I have known Kate, I have seen her go from being interested in the regency to living and breathing the Regency.
This is a time period that she truly adores. The word shako sends a thrill up her spine.
I have been so impressed with her efforts to bring publicity to the Regency writers. The Regency chapter of the RNA is the first specialist chapter of the RNA and came about largely due to her efforts.
Ladies and gentlemen, will you all please join me in a toast to the woman of the hour -- Kate Allan.
